RE: trailer hooked while staying overnight

I would unplug so you don't drain the TV battery and drop the jack if you want to JUST REMEMBER to pick up the jack while your also remembering to plug back in. The few times I have traveled overnight I unplugged and set the jack down but I did remember to rehook and put up jack before leaving but I also do a "walk about" after parking and before moving TV & TT anytime unless I have stopped for fuel but even then I'll look things over to make sure all is ok. Happy Trails

RE: Odd Question On Travel Trailer for us to travel in

Hi We have a 98 Coachmen Catalina Lite that we bought used 5 years ago and it still works for us. It's now officially ours and even though the time is right to buy I'm keeping mine. I haven't had but a few problems mainly with the outside plastic stuff aka door latches etc...you know the stuff that sits in the sun and becomes brittle ( I believe it's just maintence) Other than that no big problems except just got new tires. You can do it. Coachmen now has the Spirit of America which has the same floorplan as my 98 Catalina Lite. Good Luck

RE: Stopover in Tenn.

Best holiday travel park is about 1 mile inside the GA border. Close enough to town yet far enough away from the interstate. Clean bath/showerhouse. Pull thru sites big enough for small trailers thru thee big rigs. It is a GS Park also. We stayed there a couple of years ago and saw some overnighters while there. Also there is a camping world right off the interstate. The park has a TN address but it really is in GA. I asked about that and was told because it was so close to Chattanooga,TN they use it for a address. Good Luck

RE: Poor Man's Wheel Covers

While we are on the subject, my wife asked me what is the point of covering the wheels. Being an RV Noob, I have to admit I don't have a clue why, so what is the reason? To hide your wheels so no one staeals them :B Just kiiding . I believe it ti keep the sun from damaging the tires while storing/sitting for long periods of time.

RE: steps too short for comfort

When I first got my TT my FIL had made one from wood for when he was camping. He used 1x6 for the sides and some 2x4 to frame and to cover the "step" Made for a 6 in hi step and was 18" x 16" with ( kinda small rectangle) He made it because the MIL is a small and short lady who needed a boost and he just kept it for every camper when he traded and gave it to me now. And it works great for us. I'll try and get a picture if I can get one soon.

RE: Personalized Signs at campsite

HI I don't have a picture but I use a "garden flag" holder and made my own "hooks" to hold my custom sign. Really works for me it's small & portable but handy enough to work and I think it only cost me $10.00 at Wal Mart. Happy Trails

RE: "Danger" decal in the living room of our new XLR

The stickers on mine were on the ends of the cabinets which are also a paper finish. One side came off clean the other took the finish paper with it. I had FR send me a new cabinet end. It's hard to figure why they use a permanent type of glue when they know most everyone isn't going to want those ugly stickers on their new trailer. Not that hard in our SUE YOU happy world....The DANGER sign is there to protect the company from stupidity....So when when the TH goes up in flames or something else major happens they can say WE had posted a Danger sign in the unit......Just look around at some the "stupid" sickers you see and it will make you wonder what happened to common sense.....There stickers and signs warning you for almost everything.

RE: Peoria IL in November?

I believe that most campgrounds close nov 1st and those that stay "OPEN" are maybe eletric at best with pit toilets as most all water is shut off for the winter. Maybe someone closer can tell you more.

RE: Pull Through Sites at Kickapoo State Park

If you need a pull thru for a night Rantoul,IL We have a campground here that is 95 sites all full hookups and all pull thru $20.00 dollars a nite. If you want more info you can PM me. RAntoul is right off I-57 and you can catch I-74 20 miles south to Indiana For us it's an easy drive to Indy and we then grab 465 south to I think it was I-65. It was an easy drive to the smokies for us when we went a couple of years ago. Daville is only a hour drive from Rantoul. If this is the one that used to be a FamCamp for Chanute AFB, it gets good reviews (I think it's called Prairie Pines?) Might be worth a look, and the cost probably won't be substantially more than a SP CG anyway. Yes It is Praire Pines Campground. The website doesn't give good directions but if anyone needs directions just PM me and I'll get you there. It's easy to get to and although it sounds like it is "IN" town it is really on the southern edge of town on the old air force base in a remote area, far enough away yet close enough if you need something. Yes I have stayed out there and it is really quiet All fullups for $20.00 dollars yes they do have a very clean shower house with washer/dryers also.

RE: Pull Through Sites at Kickapoo State Park

HI here's what I found about it Camping For campers, Kickapoo has two major campgrounds for tent and trailer camping, with 184 sites. About half the sites have electrical hookups, 2 shower buildings are available to all campers and a sanitary dump station is available. Campers occupying electrical sites are required to pay for the availability of electricity even if the service is not used. A limited number of walk-in sites are available for primitive campers. The shower buildings are closed by November 1st (may be earlier if bad weather) and reopen May 1st (may be earlier - weather depending). Campsites are no longer reservable. The maximum length of stay is 15 days in a 30-day period. Group camping is permitted. Campers must have camping equipment with them when they register to camp. All campers must obtain a camping permit before entering the campgrounds. 10906 Kickapoo Park Road Oakwood, IL 61858 217.442.4915 E-mail I have been thru there a couple of years ago but I can't remember if there are pull thrus or not.
